NEW SITE AS OF JUNE 16, 2010

A few years back, a Rocklin police officer named Matt Redding was killed by a drunk driver. The City of Rocklin, accustomed to self edification went overboard on a funeral for the fallen officer at a huge expense to the City. Many businesses jumped in on the action with contributions. A bridge and a highway were dedicated to the officer. Other law enforcement agencies had representatives sent at additional expense. An annual golf tournament was setup in his name. For more information about Matt Redding, go to http://www.mattreddingfoundation.org/. It was apparent that Matt Redding was an exceptional officer and person and that there can be a silver lining in the resulting charities and events that form around them.

However, after all the expense for a fallen city employee, I got to thinking that there are many, many unsung heros in Rocklin’s present and past. There will be more in our future. Why does the City of Rocklin get to assign so many tax dollars to edify government employees while the private sector doesn’t get the benefit of those same City dollars? Tax payers shouldn’t be forced to give to the funerals of city or other government employees. Funerals should be formed from voluntary expenditures from Rocklin’s residents and that’s why I decided to start a site dedicated to informing the folks of Rocklin about all the good deeds of its citizens without showing financial favoritism to any one hero. I advocate against broke governments spending money on funerals and elaborate memorials with taxpayer dollars. Instead, we can all donate to whomever we wish with our own money.

Folks can email me with information and photos of heros they feel should be celebrated here and any information they feel would help their causes. As the site grows, I hope folks will use it to find local charities and causes that specifically pertain to Rocklin. This can set an example to others of what can be done to benefit Rocklin and the people that live here.

Send me Information about a Rocklin hero or charity you know about.

I’ll be happy to list them here.

Sincerely,
